OVERVIEW
Mike Downie is an award-winning Director of Photography and Camera Operator with 40 years of experience in film and television. He began his career with the SABC Film Department in 1982, working on 16mm film and rising to Senior Film/Lighting Cameraman, before relocating to Cape Town in 1989 to work as a freelance DOP, camera operator and focus puller. A member of the South African Society of Cinematographers since 1999, Mike is known for his close collaborative relationship with directors and his ability to capture the artistic vision of a production. His body of work spans features, series, documentaries, commercials and high-profile broadcast interviews, and includes a SAFTA Golden Horn win for Best Cinematography on “The World Unseen.” REQUEST CV
