OVERVIEW

Nicolaas Wynand Hofmeyr (Nic Hofmeyr) is a Cape Town and Johannesburg–based Director of Photography with four decades of experience across documentary, feature film, drama series, commercials and music videos. Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s premier documentary cinematographers, his work is known for strong visual storytelling and a distinctive ability to shoot in remote and challenging locations, with credits for broadcasters and platforms including Netflix, BBC, PBS, ARTE, Al Jazeera, CNN, National Geographic and Discovery Channel. Nic also has a background in directing and producing, having co-founded and run television production and post-production house Free Filmmakers/Gasworks Post from 1993 to 2000. His cinematography has been recognised internationally, winning Best Cinematography at the FESPACO Pan-African Film Festival for Jerusalema (2009) and the GuldDok Danish cinematography award for The Swenkas (2005), among numerous other award nominations.    REQUEST CV
