OVERVIEW

Bertie van der Merwe is a Director of Photography and Camera Operator with over a decade of experience across live broadcast, scripted drama and international reality television. He cut his teeth covering landmark live events, including Nelson Mandela's funeral, the Oscar Pistorius trial and major sporting fixtures for SuperSport, before building a career known for resourceful, versatile camera work — equally comfortable heading a full camera department as DoP or running solo as a one-man crew. His credits include Ferguson Films' flagship telenovelas The Queen and The Throne, the feature film Jagveld, and reality productions such as Prominent Getrennt and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here Australia. Guided by the belief that visual excellence doesn't require a big budget, he brings technical fluency across ARRI, RED, Sony and Blackmagic systems to every production.
