OVERVIEW

Armand-Guy Raoul De Beer (known professionally as Ari De Beer) is a Cape Town-based Steadicam owner/operator and Director of Photography with a career in film and television spanning more than four decades. Starting out in the Art Department in the 1980s before moving into camera operating on film second units, Ari became the first member of the South African Society of Cinematographers (SASC) to be dually elected into the South African Society of Operators (SASO), and the first recipient of the SASC/SASO Visible Spectrum Award for Steadicam Operation. His credits span features, telenovelas, international commercials and music videos, alongside major live broadcasts including the State of the Nation Address, the Two Oceans Marathon and the Comrades Marathon. A committed industry educator, he convenes Steadicam masterclasses for AFDA and Multichoice and has served as a judge for the SAFTA, NFTF and African Magic Viewer's Choice Awards.    REQUEST CV
